Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse that demonstrates God’s love in a tangible way to children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, shares the Good News of Jesus Christ. We collect gift-filled shoeboxes that are packed with love and prayer, and distribute them through churches in countries around the world, missionally connecting churches with the aim of sharing the Gospel. Kendra and Dave McIvor serve as year-round volunteers, seeking to share the ministry with churches, organizations, businesses, schools and individuals who want to share the Gospel in a unique and effective way.  They seek to grow the local donor base to generate more “Gospel Opportunities” – more shoeboxes that allow pastors around the world to connect with children and share the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  They also lead a team of year-round volunteers who are called to serve with a similar purpose, seeking to build relationships with those churches and organizations who continue to participate and connect with potential partners throughout the year.

The primary goal of Operation Christmas Child is to share the Gospel with every single child around the world, seeking to live out The Great Commission – to make disciples of all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  We trust that our efforts in God’s name are an effective evangelism tool, believing fully that God can do immeasurably more than anything we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).  We serve because we are called. God has called us to build and lead teams of passionate, called year-round volunteers, to share our passion and joy in the effectiveness of the ministry, and to continue to seek opportunities to grow the ministry locally.

We are always looking for people to be involved.  First and foremost, prayerfully consider filling shoeboxes with gifts and praye,r and how many God is asking you to do this year.  If you are feeling a call to serve as a project leader here at Westwood, at your place of work or at an organization that you’re a part of, we’d love to chat and provide more information and support you as a ministry partner!  We also have opportunities to serve as volunteers during National Collection Week the third week of November and we are seeking year-round volunteers who desire to partner and build relationships with current and potential project leaders.  If you have questions or want to know more, please feel free to email us at dmcivor@samaritan.org or kmcivor@samaritan.org or visit the Samaritan’s Purse website and social media pages here:
