1. I’m married to my wife of 15 years, Lynda. Together, we have 3 children…Holden, Harrison, and Hamilton.

2. When I’m not playing music you’ll probably find me outside with the children playing ball or just enjoying the great outdoors. I love camping and hiking with my family.
3. I grew up with a carpenter for a father. He taught me well. I can be found around the home doing all kinds of projects…my wife wishes I’d finish one every once in a while!
4. I’m a fan of the Huskers on Saturday and the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoons.
5. I play the guitar but started on the cello in 4th grade. I’m a fan of many different styles of music but am partial to the blues.

Quinn Tirrel

Associate Pastor

5 Things you need to know about Quinn

1.  I absolutely love being with my family.  My wife, Lydia, and I have been married for about fourteen years and we have three children. It’s safe to say they keep us on our toes.

2. After working with high school students for nearly 20 years (six of them here at Westwood), I am now adjusting to a new role focusing more on preaching and adult discipleship.

3.   I graduated from Western Theological Seminary’s Distance Learning program with an M. Div. back in 2015…but please don’t call me Reverend. I beg you.

4.  The diversity of my hobbies simply defies logic; even I can’t connect the dots on some of them.  Things I love include: reading, hunting, making bread and jelly, gardening, home improvement projects, watching sports, playing the guitar, working out, and playing board games — especially Settlers of Catan.

5.  I’m excited to be bringing a new emphasis to Adult Discipleship here at Westwood in the coming months and years. There is no cookie-cutter way that people grow and mature in Christ, but I’m eager to help us move forward together in a way that helps us to both experience and share the love and life of Jesus in an even deeper way.

Kara & Aaron Willems

Directors of Middle School Ministry

5 things you need to know about the Willems:

  1. We know people think we’re crazy, but we are SO excited to be working with the middle school students here at Westwood and love seeing them grow in their love for the Lord!
  2. We’ve been married for over a decade and have been blessed with two beautiful children: our book-lovin’ 10-year-old son, Titus, and our extreme-extrovert 8-year old, miracle girl, Eden.
  3. Aaron loves learning, ultimate Frisbee, Biblical Greek and the Huskers. Kara loves to putz around with creative projects and enjoys cooking and trying new foods.
  4. We met at and both graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa: Aaron with a Humanities degree in Religion and Philosophy & Kara with a Christian Education/Youth Ministry degree and a career concentration in Mission Service. Aaron loves school.  After graduating, he did some graduate studies in Applied Linguistics,  got second bachelor’s (and then a masters) in Secondary Science and then a second master’s degree in Educational Administration – the guy can’t get enough!  😉  By day, you’ll find him teaching Chemistry and Physical Science Physics at Millard West High School.
  5. We LOVE Missions! God has given both of us a heart for people from other cultures and countries. We spent the first 5 years of our married life serving as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators and the RCA primarily in the island nation of Papua New Guinea.

3. I’m a huge Husker fan, and have only missed a handful of football home games in the last 10 or so years.
4. You will often find me playing guitar or listening to music in my free time, as I’ve led worship for the two years prior to coming to Westwood.
5. Baseball is the greatest sport ever created, although it doesn’t come without its pain being a Seattle Mariners fan. On most of my nights off, you will find me watching baseball in some capacity.
